Myeloma Experts Featuring on Cure Panel Talk Show Through Sept-Dec 2013

We have an interesting line up of experts for our myeloma community. Mark your calendars and you can mail me, Priya@trialx.com for pre-registering and sending in your questions for the experts and the panelists. 

26 SEPT @ 6pm ETDr. Ajai Chari of Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City would be discussing Clinical Trials with Gary Petersen, Pat Killingsworth, Jack Aiello, Lizzy Smith, and Cynthia Chmielewski. Dr. Ajai Chari is Assistant Professor Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology at Mount Sinai Hospital, NYC. Dr. Chari served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he founded and developed the multiple myeloma program and was also a member of the stem cell transplant program. He then joined the nationally renowned myeloma program at St Vincents Comprehensive Cancer Center prior to its transition to the Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is the principal investigator on several clinical trials. He has also given numerous lectures on plasma cell disorders and has served as a moderator and abstract reviewer for the American Society of Hematology in this field. He is the Mt Sinai representative on the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium.

Dr. Paul Richardson of Harvard Medical School/ Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Dr. Richardson is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, as well as Clinical Director of the Jerome Lipper Center for Multiple Myeloma at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and Chairman of the American Myeloma Research Consortiom. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London, and completed residency training at Beth Israel Hospital. Dr. Richardson is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Dr. Craig Hofmeister  of Ohio State University Medical Center

Dr. Hofmeister is Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at Ohio State University Medical Center. He is a clinical investigator with interest in experimental therapeutics in Multiple Myeloma. His team’s research focuses primarily on phase I/II drug development in myeloma with a focus on novel drugs. He is a member of the myeloma committees of the ALLIANCE cooperative group, Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium, and the Bone Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network.

Dr. Asher Chanan-Khan of  Mayo Clinic, Florida

Dr. Chanan-Khan is Chair, Div. Hematology & Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Florida. He is an expert in Multiple Myeloma, Waldenstroms and CLL. For over a decade, Dr Chanan-Khan has been engaged both in the development of novel therapeutics (the branch of medicine that deals with the treatment and cure of diseases) and extensive laboratory research. His expertise is in preclinical target validation and drug evaluation directed towards early phase clinical trials. Dr Chanan-Khan has actively contributed to the development of immunomodulating drugs (thalidomide and its analogs) in both CLL and multiple myeloma.

Dr. Frits van Rhee of University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)

Dr. van Rhee is a professor of medicine in the UAMS College of Medicine and director of Developmental and Translational Medicine in the Myeloma Institute. He joined the Myeloma Institute in 2001, establishing a laboratory for developing innovative medical treatments using the body’s immune system. He is the leader of multiple National Cancer Institute-funded grant projects related to developmental therapeutics and anti-myeloma effects of so-called natural killer cells in the body’s immune system. His studies led to the first clinical trial utilizing expanded natural killer cells for relapsed myeloma. In addition, van Rhee is a nationally recognized expert in Castleman’s Disease, He is the principal investigator of a worldwide clinical trial evaluating novel anti-Interleukin 6 antibody therapy for treating that cancer-like disease of the lymph nodes.
